Web Hosting Wednesday

Is It Wednesday Yet?

quick update

i’m still waiting on a reply from last week’s winner. i haven’t even received an initial response yet.

very curious..

anyway, it got me thinking about what i’m going to do here at WHW if a winner doesn’t ever get back to me.

First off, i had to decide how long i was willing to wait for an initial response. There is a new draw every Wednesday, and so i was sure it would get confusing eventually if previous winners from weeks earlier were just now contacting me to claim their prize.

i wanted to keep things simple and so the official limit for claiming your 1-Year Hosting package is: 7 days. (read more)

If you are a WHW Winner:

  • you get an initial notification on Wednesday (day 1)
  • you get a 2nd notification on Friday (day 3)
  • you get a final notification on Sunday (day 5)

Note: You only need to make initial contact with me sometime within the first 7 days to qualify for receiving your prize. You can then take as long as you want (up to 1 year) to set up your account and use your actual Web Hosting package.

i’m still working out what will happen to this 1-Year Hosting package if the winner doesn’t make the deadline.

some obvious choices seem to be:

  1. draw again and again until i get a winner who responds
  2. void the winning prize for that week and just keep going
  3. carry over the prize and add it to the following week’s draw

anyway, i definitely need to think about this a little more before making my decision, and actually, i already sent out a 2nd Notification email to the winner of WHW Week 4 (one day earlier than i should have because i’m that eager).

i guess, stay tuned, i’ll post my thoughts on the matter (and hopefully have heard from the winner) very soon!

Update: Read more about the 7 day winning notification system.
