There is less than twenty minutes until the close of this week’s draw. 13 entries in, at last count. If you were waiting until the last minute to see your odds - i’d say they’re pretty darn good.

So, less than 4 hrs. left before the first ever Web Hosting Wednesday draw.
Still, only 10 entries this week, 9 of which will be carried over into next week’s draw for a 2nd chance to win. [ see this post for more on the “carry-over” ]

I just wanted to give a quick update for those who are still watching.

I finished automating the “Entries” count on the front page so that new submissions show up in real-time (though you might need to refresh your browser). I’m going to go ahead and update the FAQ page to reflect this new feature - the first chance I get.

ok. so i’ll admit. so far, i haven’t quite received the response that i was hoping for.

And to top things off, i just read on Techcrunch, that Media Temple is crushing web hosting. Just my luck i guess. But, at $20/month, you’d still be making a considerable investment in hosting. If you’re just starting out, short on cash, have a hobbie website, or want an online profile (no ads) - WHW might still be right for you.

Just 9 entries have been submitted into this week’s draw for 1-Year of Web Hosting, which is only about 0.02% of the total unique visitors that have passed through these doors to date.

To me, this can mean several things:

• I haven’t built up enough trust (ie: “street cred”) with my visitors yet, so they are reluctant to enter into the draw.
• I simply haven’t had enough traffic to the site yet
• I am somehow directing this offer to the wrong crowd

I will be exploring these 3 issues in more detail as the week goes on and we enter into Week 2.

For now, let me just say that i understand if you don’t want to be one of the first to try and thus possibly the first to get burned.

But let me say this:

Without these early adopters, the internet as we know it, would probably not exist. You are valued members of this vast online community and we salute you! [insert ringtone drumroll please]

Anyway, i wanted to somehow reward those early adopters.

So, 3 days ago i had an idea and this site is the end result.

After working on WHW for nearly 18hrs. straight, i spent the rest of the week in a semi-crazed, mostly exhausted state of mind. in this time, i performed a few basic tasks to help promote the site and hopefully spread the word a little.

1. i went ahead and added WHW to Technorati and a few other search engines and choice directories. i plan to add the site to a few more in the next couple of days. if you want, you can favorite this blog by clicking on this button.
   
2. i started a small google Adwords campaign to help advertise the fact that you can easily win 1-year of web hosting every wednesday. if you’re not already using Adwords and would like to send traffic to your site you can signup by clicking on this link.

i think the next thing i’m going to do is automate the big “entries count” on the front page. it says: You have a 1 in 8 chance of winning but i still have to update this manually. Not that this have been too much of a problem thus far, but i’ve got some time now so why not.
