The WHW Winner - Week 12

ok, so i’m a couple of weeks behind on getting these announcements out..

Nevertheless, there was a winner in Week 12 - who took home a massive 1-Year hosting plan for only $1.00.

The winner: Darren.
The package: 10Gb storage space and 160Gb bandwidth per month for 1 year.

His initial reaction:

Thanks, that is great news.
..it is a super deal..

Darren descibes himself as a website manager. He dabbles in custom sites for friends when he has free time (which is to say, he almost never does this anymore).

When asked what he plans to use the space for, Darren replied, “experimenting with new web technologies, hosting for demo sites I create, and a online photo gallery for my family and friends”.

You can visit his Vox Blog, at: thegoodlife.vox.com

All in all, another happy winner.
The next one could be you!
Find out this Wednesday.

The WHW Winner - Week 5 (carry-over)

This is just a placeholder post.

There was no winner for WHW Week 5.
That is, nobody entered into the draw for this particular week.

The prize (at the time: 4GB / 64GB) was carried-over to the following week, for what would be a total of 6GB disk space and 96GB bandwidth in Week 6.

The WHW Winner - Week 4 (voided)

This is just a placeholder post.

The winner for WHW Week 4 did not respond to the 3 notifications sent out.
The 7 day deadline had expired and so this prize is considered void.

(FYI - normally, a void would cause the prize to reset or remain at 2GB / 32GB, not carry-over to the following week. However, this occured before said policy was put into place and so the following week’s prize was 4GB / 64GB. )

The WHW Winner - Week 3

The weeks just seem to fly by..

The third official WHW Winner is: James F.

His initial reaction to winning the draw:

Wonderful, I really didn’t expect this at all. But i figured, it’s definitely worth a shot!

James is a family man currently living in Portland, OR. He works a full time job in sales, has a wife and 2 kids. On the weekends, James likes to spend a few hours “messing” with his new Canon PowerShot G7 digital camera.

In the last 6 weeks, James has accumulated over 4000 photos. Originally, he considered using his existing desktop software (that came with his camera) to manage and backup all those photos, but after a while he became frustrated with the way it slowed down his laptop.

James is planning on using his 2GB of disk space and 32GB of bandwidth to store and backup the majority of his photos. This way, his computer will run a little faster, because he’ll only keep the most recent photo sets. Everything is backed up into his folder, in case of disaster. The folder is password protected for privacy.

Get in on this week’s draw for 1-Year of Web Hosting.

As you can see, there are many ways you can use this account. Also, each winner will be receiving a profile page, that they can edit / customize or otherwise use to keep us up-to-date on their lives. Stay tuned for all that jazz (now all i need to do is code these profile pages and we’re good to go).

The WHW Winner - Week 2

Here we go again.

The second official WHW Winner is: Michael Nadler.

His initial reaction to winning the draw:

“Oh man, this is great news.
Thanks a bunch!

And to think, I was going to buy a hosting package tomorrow!”

Michael is from the area around Boston, MA. He is currently living the life of a student. His interests include: “all things Russian, Kurt Vonnegut, and listening to happy music.”

Michael is also a digital artist with a focus on: vector art of people. He describes this interest as just a hobbie, but you can check out his work for yourselves at: http://mnadler.deviantart.com

Check out Michael on DeviantArt

The only other thing i can say about Michael at this time is that he is in the market for a domain name and will likely link that domain to his new 1-Year Web Hosting account. He could go with the domain names deals i spoke about earlier in the week, but i’m sure there are plenty of other deals out there too.

Check back soon for those profile pages i’ve been talking about. Past WHW Winners will be able to edit these page, so Michael will have a way to let us all know what domain name he ends up getting.

The WHW Winner - Week 1

It’s official !

The first ever WHW Winner is: Nicholas T.

His initial reaction to winning the draw:

“Hell yeah! What an awesome email, this was a pretty big whim for me to do this but I’m seein’ spades now! Thanks a lot.”

Nicholas is from Wisconsin and was nice enough (and brave enough) to include a polaroid of himself that a friend took at the Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha, WI. He also goes to school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

WHW Winner - Week 1

In addition to 1-Year of Web Hosting, every WHW Winner also receives a permanent, customizable Personal Profile Page right here on webhostingwednesday.com.

On this page, the winner can add things like a photo, a screen name, a description about themselves, hobbies, etc. They can also use this Profile Page to link directly to any websites, blogs, other profile pages (like myspace), or anything you want - and further promote themselves online.

Nicholas has said that he is going to try and create a “personal web presence” with his winnings. So, look out for him in the coming weeks because there’s no stopping him now !!!

Be the Next Nicholas.

I Do Believe We Have a Winner !

Alright. That got pretty exciting for a bit there.

The first ever WHW draw has come and gone. Seems like only yesterday that i stayed up until 6am developing this website. Ahh, but it was all worth it in the end. I got to give away 1-Year of Web Hosting to a lucky participant and that’s all that really matters, isn’t it?

An email has just gone out to the winner of WHW Week 1 (i already know who it is - but everyone else is going to have to wait until the official annoucement which should hopefully happen sometime in the next day or two).

So, thanks to all of you who submitted entries this week and don’t forget that all of you have a chance at winning next weeks draw as well. Also, if you don’t happen to like your odds, you can always submit more entries.

The Best thing you could do is subscribe to the WHW feed to stay informed of any newly published blog posts, or other site related news. Otherwise, be sure to check back some time next week to see what happen on WHW Week 2.
