What’s been going on at WHW - Week 4, Part 2
Ok, so here’s the followup to my last post. Just in case you missed it, i’ll be discussing the marketing strategy i’ve used to try and tackle the issues of both Trust and Traffic here on WHW.
Trust - as a new website, i’ve simply tried to be honest, clear, and to the point with my audience. With time (and more traffic), i’m certain that the tide will eventually shift in my direction.
One thing remains clear: Somebody is going to win that 1-Year hosting package.
Traffic - this is an interesting issue to deal with. I mean, there’s no reason why i couldn’t spend a bundle on advertising and buy myself a ton of traffic to this site. However, i created WHW for a specific purpose - and believe me, it wasn’t so that i can spend even more money on advertising.
My web marketing strategy thus far has been divided into 4 parts:
- small budget for paid traffic
- quality posted content
- search engine optimization
- promotion via social networking
The 1st part, the budget, is the most relevent at this time and so (as promised) i’m going to explain why this week (Week 4) is going to represent your best odds for winning yet.
The budget is broken down in the following way:
Budget Amount = X Dollars per Week.
- Week 1 - 100% of budget spent
- Week 2 - 50% of budget spent
- Week 3 - 25% of budget spent
- Week 4 - 0% of budget spent
This was just a small web marketing experiment that i was curious about and wanted to test out. What ended up happened was: as my budget for paid traffic decreased, so did the number of Entries to each week’s WHW draw.
A seemingly obvious conclusion.. so why am i telling you this?
Well, i really like the idea of rewarding those readers that follow along and regularly read this blog. So what i’m secretly telling you guys is this:
It’s going to be a very quiet draw tonight, and if nobody enters (currently zero entries submitted) by 11:59pm - i’m simply going to carry forward the prize to Week 5.
I’ve thought about it, and there’s no reason why i couldn’t just double the bounty and do 4GB of disk space and 64GB of bandwidth for $1 next week. Let’s see if that draws zero Entries!
Let the games begin..
